Why Hansen’s Bush Cherry?

The Hansen’s Bush Cherry tree is a breathtaking and enchanting tree that can easily enhance the beauty of your landscape. The tree produces creeping stems that grow outwards from the plant, and the branches grow 12 to 15 inches high. The tree has small white to pinkish flowers that simultaneously give it a creepy and beautiful look.

Beautiful flowers in the spring give way to fruits in the mid-season. The wildlife enjoys the fruits, while the plants are ideal for landscaping due to their attractive flowers and neat prostrate growth.

The largest of the North American cherries, Sixteen quarts of cherries from a single, 3-year old bush. Hansen’s Bush Cherry are beautiful flowering shrubs and a virtual "Cherry Factory," it can be eaten straight from the bush, made into preserves or pies, or dried for later use.

This Bush is easy to cultivate and prefers sandy soils close to a water body. However, it will grow readily on any soil that has good drainage. It is drought tolerant but can suffer during short durations of flooding.

Hansen’s Bush Cherry, Prunus beseyi can be used for lakeshore and streambank stabilization and has an extensive root system that traps sand during flood events.

    Hansen bush cherries

    Posted by Carolyn on 12/17/20

They arrived in a very nice cardboard container. Plants looked extremely healthy but were in a dormant state. Which is what I had expected. Both plants were around two feet tall with 2/3 main branches. Very impressed so far. I rated them a four star since time will tell if they survive until spring.

So far all 4 bushes seem to have planted well

I'm not an experienced gardener, so if something survives in my hands, it must be good.

These have to be some of the best bare root plants I have ever received.

Small twigs with lots of buds, healthy roots

Posted by Diane Kistner on 01/20/20

These bush cherries are definitely dormant but seem very healthy with no rotten roots or damage. I've read that the smaller bareroot offerings actually do better in the long run than the larger ones, so the size is not an issue for me, especially at the two-pack price. The twigs are about a foot long from the soil line, and the roots are ample. I planted all six in a grouping spaced about 5 feet apart, and I'm hoping they're going to be pretty when they get bigger.

    Bush Cherries

A bit early to actually say how they will be. Only been in the ground a couple weeks. Altho at least 2 of the 4 ordered have started to break dormancy. Ordered some last year and am impressed with their growth. I would imagine these will be just as good.

These plants arrived in great shape and well packaged. This is my second time buying these cherry bushes. I planted some last year and they grew amazingly. Worth every penny!
