Red Maple – A Popular Deciduous Tree
Why Red Maple (Acer Rubrum)?
The red maple is one of the most widespread deciduous trees in the eastern and central United States. It has a pleasant oval form that proliferates and has stronger wood than most soft maples. As the tree matures, its smooth and gray bark becomes wrinkled, scaly, and dark gray. The leaves are medium-green in the spring and summer, changing to a red-orange hue in the fall. Its blooms are pinkish-red and grow in drooping clusters, while its fruits are paired clusters of winged seeds.
The leaves, bark, and sap of these maples contain biological compounds that may fight inflammation, the underlying root cause of many diseases.
Red maples provide food, shade, and nesting habitat for wildlife while squirrels and other rodents consume the fruits, rabbits, and deer consume the delicate shoots and leaves.
The red maple tree is used to treat eye disorders and as a drying agent, but scientific data does not support its treatment for any condition.
